Our Memoir

The Prestigious St. Joseph’s Centre with four schools, St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Don Bosco Matriculation School, Don Bosco Primary School and Good Samaritan School; which stands tall today, beaming with joy and mirth of rendering service to the society through the light of education. “Be great in act, as you have been in thought “ To remove the darkness of ignorance, from the feeble - minded people ; Rev. Fr. K.P. Joseph established the schools, who took up the task of realizing the dream of education to innumerable children of North Chennai; to which the time and the people stand as witness !

Fr. K.P. Joseph, who was a Salesian Priest, has the primary task and the challenges of the poor people, with the right thought emerged through education and the need of the right and able person to direct the wheel of the project. The Centre had its inauguration in the year 1982 with Good Samaritan Primary School, being the first to ignite the educational spirit on the peripheral of North Chennai, residing on the downtrodden people below the poverty line.

To develop qualities of body, mind and character which will enable the young students of today to become good and great citizens of tomorrow. Rev. Fr. K.P. Joseph established other schools, Don Bosco Matriculation School, with sole and pure intention of serving the dire need of imparting knowledge to the less privileged children of the locality. As a customary trend of English - Medium Schools were being opened for monetarily affluent, people at lightening speed; Fr. K.P. Joseph at the right moment, to serve the backward people, and with some benevolent helping hands, were spread as mighty wings in opening a school for the people of the community with St. Joseph’s School, which emerged as a boon to those who were in brim of illiteracy.

At the dawn of June 1st 1984, the primary school was started earlier which was known as ‘Pope John Paul School ’ by Fr. K.P. Joseph. The school was established as a day care centre for the little children with the greatest concern. The Primary School had a separate building and changed its name as ‘Don Bosco Primary School‘ on 1st June 1990. From this sincere inception of the school, there has never been a day where the directors and the staff looked back in fear. The hard work, undying zeal, spirit of courage and resistance to face the massive and trivial challenges, all the previous correspondents with their incessantly grown and qualified staff has made the schools to gain the fruits of their toil. After a lot of struggles the school got their recognitions by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Now the schools are run by the Archdiocese of Madras - Mylapore with the Archbishop as the Chairman.
